The cottage was constructed of trees taken from Len's property. He started building
This painting was commissioned by Mrs. Burns family as a surprise birthday presentfor her.
This painting is of the Hannah Cottage on Beaver Lake. It was painted from
a photo that Lindsey had taken this summer.
Brian McMullen and family commissioned me to paint their old homestead on Green Road,
Tamworth, as a gift for their mother.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with David to discuss his ideas for this commissioned painting.
His dream was to capture the

** The Dale's Cottage **
The Hartins Home
The cottage that Len built!
in the early eighties and took a few years to complete. This labor of love now sits proudly
over looking Calpin Lake north of Erinsville, Ontario. When Len approached me to paint a watercolour
of his cottage, I took several photos of it through the fall and winter seasons. We both came to the
conclusion that the winter scene was the way to go. Its red roof breaking through the white crisp snow
contrasting against the bright blue sky leaves you with that nice fresh feeling of winter.

Cottage On Beaver Lake
The nice thing about having your favorite place captured
in watercolour is that it preserves your precious memories and
the painting will last for ever.
The painting measures approximately 22" X 28" framed.
The Old McMullen Homestead
I also made and framed prints for the rest of the family.
Brian requested that the old barn, in the background, be in the painting
as it brought back many memories
of the young McMullen's playing in and around it.

and the prints 10" X 12" framed.
A View From The Elliott's Dock

We went through a lot of photos that he had taken over the years
and he especially wanted an autumn theme.
The scene itself was sky, land and water. This posed a challenge for me to create a
painting using just
those three elements. One of the things that I really love painting is skies, so I let that play a big role in the
composition. By giving a soft slightly out of focus look of the land's reflection in the lake, I was able to convey the
stillness and the feeling of tranquility.
The original painting measured approximately 20" x 45" framed.
