Ever since I started painting, old barns have always intrigued me as a source
of inspiration. Their solid wood structures made of hemlock, cedar, oak or pine
have weathered many a storm. But as time has gone by, age has started to take its
toll on many of them. We are seeing more and more of them collapsed in the fields,
where they once stood tall and proud protecting the hay for the long winter months.
In this small collection of paintings titled "OUT 'n ABOUT" I have tried to
capture just a small glimpse of a few barns and places of interest from the
area that I now live Erinsville and Tamworth Ontario. My objective is to
immortalize some of their majestic structures before they fade away and just
become memories.
